Croatian supercar company Rimac has introduced a brand-new robotaxi service, entitled “Verne”.

The company – who currently holds a joint venture with Bugatti – is expected to launch the autonomous service in Zagreb by 2026.

The start-up has announced its fully-autonomous two-seater EV “Verne” is expected to run urban robotaxi services via an app for consumers. It will also reportedly include a specialist hub for charging, cleaning and maintenance.

For the autonomous driving systems, the Croatian company relies on technology from MobilEye.

“What we are trying to do is to deliver a luxury car experience in the space of a compact car,” said Mate Rimac, CEO of the Rimac Group, during the announcement.

Zagreb and 10 other cities around the world have reportedly already signed contracts for Verne taxis and talks with 20 more cities are underway, said P3 CEO Marko Pejkovic.
