“Batteries have become both a commercial priority and a geopolitical one. The industry is racing to secure access to raw materials and adapt to shifting trade policies. Questions about sustainability, pricing and demand are shaping big decisions.”

Hannah Lutz, Automotive News

To round off our first day of discussion on the Keynote stage, Automotive News’ Hannah Lutz was joined by panellists from across the full breadth of the battery supply chain, from mining to battery manufacturing.

In “Global battery supply chain outlook” panellists from Sion Power, LG Corp, Ford and Glencore provided their insights on the state of the battery supply chain right now, asking the big questions like, “Where is the battery market going?” and, “How do we make the battery supply chain more resilient to geopolitical uncertainty and fluctuating demand?”

Our panellists explored the need to keep up with Chinese competition describing the importance of consistent investment and forward planning in responding to an often precarious “boom and bust” pattern of demand.

The conversation concluded with reflections on the growing demand for lithium batteries across multiple sectors, including robotics, aviation, and electric vehicles. While the industry may not yet be fully equipped to meet this demand, our panellists agreed that building resilient regional battery supply chains is both essential and inevitable.
