MOVE 2023 is well and truly in motion!
Kicking off the day in the keynote theatre was Angela Strand and Niclas Poitiers on their panel
How can we make green subsidies operable and politically acceptable?
With a packed keynote theatre the pair discussed the topic of green subsidies, engaging in conversation of their benefits, barriers, and controversies.
Niclas Poitiers, Research Fellow at Bruegel, pointed out that in Brussels there is a huge amount of finance invested into decarbonisation. However, he explained that more is needed if the world wants to tackle climate change more efficiently.
Poitiers said:
“You have to do something very expensive to challenge climate change,”
“We want companies and governments to compete but we need cooperation on the leveling fields that we play.”
Poitiers was joined on the panel by Angela Strand, incoming chair for SEA Electric and former chairwoman of the board at Lordstown Motors. Strand gave a philosophical solution to the issues surrounding green subsidies.
Strand said:
“This is one the greatest times of industrial growth, potentially in the history of the world,”
“Aligned visions are key to our growth…If we all come together we will find a way to compete but still win in the end.”
