The Biden administration is set to raise tariffs on imported Chinese electric vehicles (EVs) from 25% to 100% this week.

This measure is expected to be revealed on Tuesday at an event at the White House alongside other clean energy announcements.

The move comes as a reported vote of support to the American industry and to protect it.

New EV tariffs will be announced alongside the conclusion of the review, led by the US Trade Representative, as reported by the FT.

In February, President Biden also announced that his government would be conducting an investigation into the security risks of Chinese-imported EVs due to anxieties that the information could be sent back to China and enable its government to remotely access the vehicles.
