San-Francisco-based electric vehicle (EV) charging platform Voltpost has been selected by Connecticut to retrofit a number of lampposts into EV charging ports.
The state’s Public Utilities Regulatory Authority (PURA) has selected the company to begin an 18-month project installing the ports to combat the need for EV charging infrastructure.
Voltpost retrofits lampposts into a modular and upgradable electric vehicle charging platform which were selected to support estimated charging demand of 1,500 more charging ports by 2025, according to Smart Cities World.
Jeffrey Prosserman, CEO and co-founder of Voltpost, said:
“This deployment will expand access to EV chargers for the people of Connecticut, boosting EV adoption and supporting the state’s transition to a renewable energy-based transportation system.”
The company is expected to deploy a total of 50 charging stations, which include a total of 100 charging ports,
Voltpost claims it was selected to support Connecticut’s electrification goals because the Voltpost platform ‘significantly’ reduces the cost, timing, and footprint of EV charger deployment.
