Leading Japanese automaker Mitsubishi has invested $25 million in Ample, a start-up specialising in battery-swapping solutions for electric vehicles (EVs).

Mitsubishi Corporation intends to compliment Ample’s ongoing efforts to expand its battery-swapping business to help accelerate the deployment of sustainable energy solutions.

CEO of Ample, Khaled Hassounah, said: “We are thrilled to have Mitsubishi Corporation join us on our mission to make electric vehicle adoption more accessible and sustainable… Their investment and industry knowledge will be invaluable as we continue to scale our battery-swapping infrastructure and advance our technology.”

Founded in 2014, Ample has already begun operations in Japan by signing key partnerships to accelerate the deployment of swapping services.

The company has also formed partnerships with leading OEMs such as Stellantis and Mitsubishi Fuso Truck and Bus Corporation, part of Daimler Truck, to integrate its battery-swapping technology with a wide range of EV models.
