“The transition is here — I mean, I often say it, but the future is now, and you’re rather part of now, or you’re not.”

Speaking with us at MOVE 2026, we heard from the brilliant Françoise Poggi, COO of Fastned, who shared her insights on the state of European electrification, overcoming infrastructure bottlenecks, and why the green transition is entirely unstoppable.

We discuss the rapid evolution of EV market adoption, using Fastned’s expanding multi-market network as a prime example of the shift from early adopters to the mass market. Reflecting on a decade of industry progress, where global sentiment shifted from scepticism to massive scale, Françoise highlights that high-volume deployment is explicitly tied to strategic location planning. We explore their new landmark urban infrastructure partnership with Transport for London (TfL), alongside the rollout of specialized retail charging stations designed to embed high-speed charging directly into local communities.

Françoise reflects on the persistent challenges stalling broader EV adoption, pointing directly to severe electrical grid congestion, bureaucratic red tape, and lengthy municipal permitting processes. She emphasizes that while recent dilutions of ambitious climate mandates in Europe might trigger temporary slowdowns, they will ultimately fail to halt the imminent electric revolution. To ensure steady, predictable private capital flows into the charging ecosystem, she stresses that governments must deliver stable, long-term political policies.

When asked how past experiences shape her current approach to scaling a pan-European business, the COO pointed to her formative tenure at Tesla during its trailblazing early years. She shares that navigating a period when the broader public dismissed the technology as “crazy” taught her the absolute value of staying determined and maintaining head-strong belief in a vision. Over the next 12 to 24 months, Fastned’s core priority remains a relentless, customer-centric acceleration across its European markets, deploying high-power charging at speed and scale to transform the everyday driver experience.
