At MOVE, we believe that actions speak louder than words. With a mandate to change the world and encourage urban mobility to embrace a sustainable ethos, we invented the MOVE pledge.

Last year at our MOVE 2022 event, we asked our speakers to make a concrete pledge towards safer, smarter and more sustainable mobility for 2023.

With only 11 days to go until MOVE 2023, we want to reflect on what MOVE pledges our speakers promised last year. So, let’s take a look at them…

Pledges Made By Our MOVE 2022 Speakers

Hogan Lovells further strengthens its global Private Equity practice with London hire - Legal Desire Media and Insights

Patrick Ayad, Partner at Hogan Lovells, said:

“Our MOVE pledge is to focus more on Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) in the mobility world. From a personal perspective, I’m on the board of an organisation in Germany, which is supporting refugees coming to Germany and that is something that makes me feel very good, and something I want to focus on next year.”

Agustin Guilisasti, founder & CEO of HumanForest, said:

“Nowadays we are the most affordable solution, but we want to go one step further, and offer free mobility for everyone, forever and in a sustainable way.”

“Our pledge is to accelerate the road to 2030. We believe whether its cars, bikes, vans, micro-mobility, we’ve got a great role to play in promoting those products. We want to be driving awareness, making it simpler, standardising, and fundamentally making it easier to buy and to own an electric vehicle. We are fully behind that race.”

Benjamin Pfeifer, CCO at ioki, said:

“My pledge is customer centric planning. We really think our full industry in public transport from the customer and transform it into new projects on the road.”

Francois Bausch, Deputy Prime Minister of Luxembourg, said:

“I really try to live this multi-model behaviour. I have done it for a very long time, for example to go to the ministry I ride the bike, sometimes also the light rail. So I really want to try and combine these in the which will be possible for all of our investments in the coming year.”

Waze Navigation & Live Traffic - Apps on Google PlayRuairidh Roberts, Country Manager of UK at Waze, said:

“We are striving for safer, more sustainable roads. One thing we think that sets Waze apart from competition is a more enjoyable drive with our audio pair program and some of the quirky things that Waze has on the platform.”

Christopher Borroni-Bird, Founder of Afree Car, said:

“My pledge this year, is to develop a prototype that I’m working on, test it out on farms in America and take the feedback from that usage by farmers and improve it with the view that by this time next year, I can send it to an African village. I have contacts with this village based on my previous volunteer work. I need to do a lot of testing here first as I want it to efficiently meet their needs. That’s my pledge. To have something ready to send to Africa by this time next year.”

Teague Egan, CEO at Energy X, said:

“A lot of the mines that battery materials come from are in really remote places around the world, that have indigenous cultures and the people there aren’t very affluent or wealthy. So we pledge to give  $100,000 dollars to improve the education systems and healthcare infrastructure in remote parts of Bolivia. Over the next 6 months, we will be deploying that capital into these communities in Southern Bolivia in Uyuni and Potosi which is the area where the largest lithium reserves are.”

And from our very own…Cormac Martin, Project Director at MOVE, said:

“Our MOVE pledge for 2022 is to donate 5% of all of our delegate revenue to Asthma + Lung UK, which is a great charity that believes that everyone has a right to breathe freely, regardless of background. Their aim is to reduce death and ill health from lung disease by 20% by 2027.”

It’s time to start thinking about what YOUR pledge is going to be for the coming year. At the end of every panel, we have asked our moderators and hosts to ask their fellow speakers what their MOVE pledge is going to be for 2024.

So, get ready and start getting excited to hear if these companies have achieved their pledges and what new ones they will be making. We’ll see you there!
