Samsung Wallet now supports Digital Key for Audi, allowing Galaxy users to lock, unlock and start their Audi vehicles from a Galaxy smartphone — with no physical car key required. Drivers can also start their vehicle without using a physical key or taking their phone out of their pockets. The digital key function is set to roll out starting this month in Europe, followed by a global rollout aligned with the launch timeline of Audi vehicles.
“We’re excited to bring Audi drivers the incredible convenience of Samsung Digital Key, powered by advanced UWB technology and easily accessible through Samsung Wallet,” said Woncheol Chai, EVP and Head of the Digital Wallet Team, Mobile eXperience Business at Samsung Electronics. “This collaboration with Audi is helping to advance our vision of effortless, tech-enabled experiences within the Galaxy ecosystem.”
Digital Key is currently already available for certain car makes in Canada, The United States of America, Republic of Korea, United Kingdom, Germany, Spain, France, Italy, Switzerland, Finland, Sweden, Norway, Denmark. Reportedly, the function is securely embedded within the device and ensure precise functionality and significantly reduces the risk of unauthorised vehicle access. When using a Genesis, KIA or Hyundai car, the digital key can be used on models with the latest Android S (12) OS or higher software installed:
  • Galaxy S20 series (excluding Galaxy S20 FE)
  • Galaxy Note20 series, Galaxy S21 series (including Galaxy S21 FE)
  • Galaxy S22 series
  • Galaxy S23 series
  • Galaxy Z Flip 5G, Galaxy Z Flip 3
  • Galaxy Z Flip 4
  • Galaxy Z Fold 2
  • Galaxy Z Fold 3
  • Galaxy Z Fold 4

When using a BMW car, Digital Keys can be used on models with the latest Android S (12) OS or higher software installed:

  • Galaxy Note 20 series
  • Galaxy S21 series (including Galaxy S21 FE)
  • Galaxy S22 series
  • Galaxy S23 series
  • Galaxy Z Flip 4
  • Galaxy Z Fold 4

According to Samsung Security Policy, a Digital Key can only be used on one smartphone. Find more info here.
