Chinese electric vehicle (EV) maker BYD has unveiled its own advanced self-driving assistance system, dubbed ‘God’s Eye’.
The new in-house developed platform will reportedly be installed on the carmaker’s entire model line-up, including smaller mass-market models.
It will reportedly contain features that are commonly only found in high-priced EVs and not budget hatchback models.
BYD’s Founder, Wang Chuanfu, said:
“no longer an unattainable luxury, but an essential tool . . . like safety belts and airbags.”
‘God’s Eye’ will thus be available in all BYD vehicles, including the Seagull hatchback which currently costs the equivalent of €9,300, according to electrive.
The system will enable users to activate automated driving on the motorway under the driver’s supervision as well as autonomous parking.
The latest version of the advanced self-driving system will be featured on a total of 21 BYD vehicle models, with three different variants of the platform.
Its entry-level system is called ‘God’s Eye C’, which is the most affordable version and relies on a camera and image system to carry-out autonomous features.
‘God’s Eye B’ is the DiPilot 300, which works with remote sensing technology using lasers and is featured in some BYD premium vehicles.
The top model is ‘God’s Eye A’ which is the DiPilot 600, functioning with three laser sensors and is mainly used by the ultra-luxury brand Yangwang.
