Japanese automaker Honda have announced that they will be accepting Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies as a valid method of payment for the purchasing, leasing, and renting of their models, including Honda motorcycles. The new transaction method came as part of the automaker’s recent partnership with FCF Pay a leading blockchain payment system. The collaboration means that Honda will now be accepting digital currencies like Ethereum and Ripple, as well as meme coins such as Shiba Inu and Dogecoin, establishing a new era for automotive financial transactions. https://twitter.com/fcfpay/status/1706950999770902641?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw%7Ctwcamp%5Etweetembed%7Ctwterm%5E1706950999770902641%7Ctwgr%5E49f6eff3eaacd21c7912b43e720ad8afaefe8046%7Ctwcon%5Es1_&ref_url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.ghacks.net%2F2023%2F10%2F03%2Fhonda-accepts-bitcoin-payments%2F In this first phase, the modern payment method will only be available for use by US citizens. However, the transaction method aims to expand to other countries in the future. Honda is not the first Japanese automaker to venture into the world of cryptocurrencies, as SBI Motor had previously embraced Bitcoin payments and Tesla have also previously accepted Bitcoin and Dogecoin for vehicle purchases. Nissan, another Japanese automaker, is also exploring Web3 avenues. This trend showcases the increasing mainstream adoption of cryptocurrencies within the world of mobility.
