Earlier this month, the MOVE team had the opportunity to test drive one of Wayve’s autonomous vehicles and experience their Level 3 autonomous technology in real time.
Following their landmark $1.5 billion investment round, we caught up with the Wayve team to learn how the UK start-up is positioning itself as a serious contender in London’s robotaxi race.
Unlike competitors Waymo and Baidu, Wayve’s mapless technology harnesses the power of AI, allowing its vehicles to operate “sight unseen”, in any city, anywhere, at any level of autonomy.
Its end-to-end AI approach scales from a driver assistance system (L2), to L3 or L4, or full driverless technology.
Kaity Fischer, VP of Commercial and Operations at Wayve, caught up with our Editor Eve Stevens to tell us more about Wayve’s choice of London as the perfect testbed for its UK rollout
With 10x the number of vulnerable road users and 20x the number of roadworks, Kaity describes the city as “an incredible and almost unparalleled market to develop the technology in.”
Watch the full video below to hear how Wayve is making strides towards full commercial deployment in the UK capital.
