At MOVE America 2025, MOVEmnt.net caught up with Tobias Glitterstam, Senior Vice President and Chief Strategy & Transformation Officer at International Motors.

Following his Keynote appearance alongside Edwin Olson (May Mobility) and Jeremy Bird (Lyft), we sat down to discuss the major developments taking place in the world of autonomous trucking and the launch of International Motors’ first commercial autonomous fleet trials in Austin.

Tobias shares his insights on the key benefits of autonomous freight transportation, highlighting both safety and cost efficiency as major advantages for freight operators, consumers and society at large.

“The cost of freight is a substantial part of all the goods that we buy. If we can do that more cost-efficiently, there is a benefit to the consumer.”

We continue our fascinating discussion by unpacking some of the key challenges facing widespread autonomous adoption, including regulatory uncertainties, state-by-state legislation, and a lack of public trust.

Tobias sheds a light on the important symbiosis between autonomous passenger vehicles, such as robotaxis, and autonomous freight solutions, arguing that robotaxis play a critical role in nurturing public trust in the early stages of deployment.

Watch the full interview below to hear Tobias’ take on sustainability, electrification, AI and more.
