Jaguar is heading towards its all-electric future through its brand being fully rebooted as part of JLR’s Reimagine strategy, with no replacements planned for any of the existing models.
Jaguar is now being moved upmarket to stand alongside Range Rover, Defender and Discovery as one of four ‘brand pillars’ of JLR.
The new electric future will be led by a £100,000 four-door GT and prototypes of the new model will be tested on the road by the end of the year, the company has confirmed.
This new model is due to go on sale in late 2024 and with deliveries beginning from 2025. The first of the three new models will be made at Solihull and is reportedly the most powerful of Jaguar’s production cars. The EV will also have the greatest range and charging capacity.
Jaguar has not released motor outputs or performance figures, but it says the new model will have up to 700km (435 miles) of range and will be capable of adding around 200 miles of range in 15 minutes of rapid charging. The design has also been kept a secret.
The company has released a teaser image for Jaguar’s future direction, showing a strong squared-off rear shoulder of a vehicle. However, many have said that it does not show the as-yet-unnamed GT.
