British electric vehicle charging solutions company EO Charging has signed a distribution agreement with YHI Energy to deliver domestic and commercial charging products to the rapidly growing EV market in New Zealand.
The deal is EO’s first distribution partnership in the region and will focus initially on EO’s home charging products, before offering fleet solutions later in the year.
EO’s expansion into New Zealand is bolstered by the government’s ‘clean car’ incentives introduced last year, which have fuelled significant growth in the number of EVs hitting New Zealand’s roads. In 2021, sales of electrified vehicles (including hybrids, plug-in hybrids, and dedicated EVs) grew by 94 per cent year-on-year, with sales of dedicated EVs alone, reports EO Charging, increasing by a remarkable 344 per cent year-on-year.
YHI will distribute a wide range of products from EO’s portfolio, including:
Home charging: EO Mini and EO Mini Pro 2 – the world’s smallest smart home charger.
Commercial charging: EO Genius – Fast AC charge points designed for return-to-depot fleets, workplaces and commercial environments.
EO Cloud: hardware agnostic charge point management software that gives business owners full control of their charging infrastructure for fleets, workplaces, car parks and charging destinations.
Sam Steele, EO Charging’s Asia Pacific managing Director said, “The electric vehicle market in New Zealand has historically lagged behind global trends but is now about to hit a tipping point. It’s critical that country-wide electrification is not stalled by a lack of charging infrastructure, both for everyday EV drivers and forward-thinking businesses.
“Our charging solutions are already used by some of Europe’s largest car, van, truck and bus fleets, allowing us to bring invaluable insight to this growing market. YHI is renowned for its comprehensive product offering and local market knowledge, making them an ideal partner to help EO capture the increasing demand for our services here.”
Aaron Gillon, Divisional Manager, YHI Energy, commented, “We are very excited to represent the strong EO offering in New Zealand & The Pacific Islands. The EO product range gives both residential and commercial customers access to some of the best featured charging stations on the market. The EO Hub and EO Cloud platform tie together our whole range of products and put YHI in a strong position to service all of the differing requirements in our market.”
